I graduated from Virginia Tech in 1974 as an Industrial Engineer and worked in Industry for about 11 years before being laid off by my last employer (Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co.) when they closed their plant in Petersburg. Following that, I immediately began studying locksmithing. I started studying through a correspondence course and then found other schools that offered more in-depth courses in automotive locksmithing and safe work. I studied safe servicing, safe drilling, safe lock manipulation and safe deposit lock servicing through Lockmasters. I completed all of this training before formally opening my business in downtown Petersburg in 1985.

As of 2018, Buckley’s Securitysmiths has now been in business for 33 years! I’ve steadily expanded our service offerings over the years and added employees. We are now a licensed private security business under the DCJS offering locksmith and electronic security services. I joined ALOA shortly after getting involved in the trade and I have been a member ever since.

I am proud to say I have a great team that has been with me for many years and they are as passionate as I am about the things we do. Everyone that works for the company enjoys the challenges we experience almost every day in this business. It’s always something different. Just two years ago, after 31 years, moved the business from Petersburg to our new location in Colonial Heights, Virginia.
